Research Animal Resources (RAR) laboratory animal veterinarians oversee the well-being and clinical care of animals used in research at the University of Minnesota.
This responsibility includes monitoring and promoting animal well-being at all times during animal use and all phases of the animal’s life. Well-being is determined by considering physical, physiologic, and behavioral indicators, which vary by species.
RAR veterinarians work to achieve and maintain compliance with animal care and use regulations put forth by the U.S. government and other regulating bodies.
